ASSESSMENT

Assessment has always been part of training in aviation, but in recent years it’s been subject to scrutiny mainly because, traditionally, assessment has been done by ticking off in boxes providing training results with little information on the quality of performance.

Aviation is transitioning to CBTA (Competency Based Training and Assessment) which is not just a conceptual change, but a profoundly different approach to training involving the use of behavior descriptions.

This is a major challenge to the industry and require a complete restructure of training involving grading systems, instructor knowledge, training data, software solutions to mention some. CBTA is not going to work unless all of these parameters have been properly considered and dealt with.
